Summary
I really enjoyed working on this project because It got me out of my comfort zone and it taught me how to respect myself. I had never painted anything before in my life and It genuinely surprised me how I was able to create something that even slightly resembled my dog. As I am a perfectionist, I can get hard on myself and my work, but when I take a step back, I begin to realize that I did a great job. Over the years I have realized that there is a difference between being proud and prideful of your work. I have always felt bad about presenting my work to others because I didn't want to appear as self-obsessed. When I finally discerned that I could be proud of my work without bragging, I was able to give myself the self-respect that I so desperately deserved. Even though this painting is not perfect by any stretch, I am still extremely pleased with how it turned out.
